SUMMARY:The Giant Bamboo-Burguret Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Giant Bamboo-Burguret Hike is a gentle walk in the lowlands of Mount Kenya through the Burguret Route. Where humans do not rough up forests\, forests remain natural\, and the environment is adventurous. You might encounter at least one of the big five along this route from a distance. Life here is under a forest of towering bamboo and montane forests. Come on a day hike with us. \n\n\n\nThe Giant Bamboo-Burguret Hike starts at Gathiuru Forest Station and quickly takes us through tall and lively artificial that could be confused with indigenous forests because of the trees’ age. Past this forest\, the rest of the forest to the bamboo zone is indigenous. Past the indigenous forest\, there are lofty and statuesque bamboo trees. The best place you can hide is here since the hike is entirely under the forest cover\, and you can listen to the noise of your footsteps. \n\n\n\nOur hike ends at the Giant Bamboo Camp. This is usually the first camp when climbing Mount Kenya to the summit using the Burguret route. \n\nQuick Summary\n\nDeparture time & location: 3:00 a.m.\, at Simba Street \nMaximum hiking distance: 20km \nAvailable hiking time: 10 hours \nMaximum elevation gain: 416m \nHighest elevation: 8\,891ft \nHike difficulty: This hike is a level 2 hike suitable for people who have hiked before\, especially on 18+ kilometer trails. SUMMARY:The Highland Castle Ultra Sweep
DESCRIPTION:The Highland Castle Ultra Sweep is our pride ultra along the Mount Kenya Burguret Route. Serving sweeping views of sheer lava cliffs’ formation\, The Highland Castle is usually the second campsite after the Giant Bamboo Camp when climbing Mount Kenya to the summit using the Burguret route. We crafted this ultra with a low elevation gain in mind because most of our ultra hikes go above 3900m. \nSitting at 3700m\, the Highland Castle is the highest point you will sit on during this hike. You will pass through bamboo zone to the moorlands\, and though the bamboo is not muddy like the one during our Ultimate Southern Nyandarua Traverse\, the Highland Castle Ultra Sweep closely shares distance. \n\nQuick Summary\n\nDeparture time & location: 3:00 a.m.\, at Simba Street \nMaximum hiking distance: 38km \nAvailable hiking time: 10 hours \nMaximum elevation gain: 516m \nHighest elevation: 12\,139ft \nHike difficulty: This hike is a level 5 hike suitable for people who have hiked before\, especially on 18+ kilometer trails.
